Each year, Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRCs) now send the Department of Energy (DOE) two reports in one task: an internal progress report and a public one. SimplyScholar keeps the people, publications and project records that both draw on, and publishes your center’s website from the same data.

Publications

How BES classifies publication acknowledgments

Since 2021, BES has asked EFRCs to put each publication in one of three categories: EFRC only, primary, or secondary. It is easy to leave this until the report is due, and by then the acknowledgment is fixed in a published paper.

Publications are imported by DOI from CrossRef and matched to your researchers, so you start the review with a current list.

The annual task

One set of records, two audiences

The internal DOE progress report and the public progress report are collected together, but they are two different documents. One goes to your program manager, and the other goes on the web.

Renewal asks what the whole award produced

An EFRC award runs four years, and then the center competes again. Renewal is easier when all four years are already in your records.
